Made You Up

The 2nd Apology

I know, I know, I'm so sorry that I've been late with my reviews again but I've been swamped with assignments and have been reading a pretty boring book for the past few days and decide to quit on it and read a new book which is why this review is about a book called Made You Up instead of Alone in the Classroom.

Made You UpTitle; Made You Up

Author: Francesca Zapia

Rating:4/5

Reading Time: 4-6 hrs

Bookworm Appeal: Romance?
                               : Plot Twists?
                               : Paranoia?
                               : Real Life?
                               : Heavy Reading Material?

You should totally try reading this?

Review

OMG!!!! This book annoyed me as hell! Not because it was boring or too draggy or anything like that to tell you the truth (like I always do) it's an amazing book. The writing is so good, this book is about this girl who can't tell reality from fantasy and fantasy from reality and as I''m riding this journey out with her I have to say that I myself couldn't read what was real and wasn't (only sometimes) and it confused me so much. Another thing I like about this book was the story line/PLOT. You guys know how I'm always complaining about how all authors seem to be using the same plot, well Francesca is not going to be an author I put in that list anytime soon with so many damn plot twist sneaking up on me when I least expect it, I can never tell where the story's going. So a big round of applause to Francesca for making me work for my answers!

Summary from goodreads

Reality, it turns out, is often not what you perceive it to be—sometimes, there really is someone out to get you. Made You Up tells the story of Alex, a high school senior unable to tell the difference between real life and delusion. This is a compelling and provoking literary debut that will appeal to fans of Wes Anderson, Silver Linings Playbook, and Liar.

Alex fights a daily battle to figure out the difference between reality and delusion. Armed with a take-no-prisoners attitude, her camera, a Magic 8-Ball, and her only ally (her little sister), Alex wages a war against her schizophrenia, determined to stay sane long enough to get into college. She’s pretty optimistic about her chances until classes begin, and she runs into Miles. Didn't she imagine him? Before she knows it, Alex is making friends, going to parties, falling in love, and experiencing all the usual rites of passage for teenagers. But Alex is used to being crazy. She’s not prepared for normal.

Funny, provoking, and ultimately moving, this debut novel featuring the quintessential unreliable narrator will have readers turning the pages and trying to figure out what is real and what is made up.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         "One last time, I need to be the one, that takes you home."                                                                                                                                                                                                                       - Ariana Grande, One Last Time (it's really good)

Review

It's a book full of love. I'm not sure how to review it. All I can say is that it's a good book with tons of plot twists and ever changing relationship's. It's a certain page turner and you won't put it down until you finish it.

Summary (from Goodreads)

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.

                             : Horrible Leadership?

Review

This is another remake of Cinderella with a twist instead of Cinderella as the Heroin its The Ugly Stepsister. It's a funny book, that got me screaming and yelling at Aya Ling. The writing was good and it's definitely a page turner. It's a girl's book (sorry, guys) unless your a guy who likes princess stories than be my guest. Take a dive into the magical world of make believe and fantasy.

Summary

Katherine rips a Cinderella book while dropping down the stairs and is transported into the story book. She is stuck in the storybook forever unless she manages to make the ending have a happily ever-after but, with a mix up in the parentage, the stress of being a noble woman, a missing fairy-godmother and her and the prince falling in love with each other not to mention her sister and mother happily ever after seems like a long way to go.

Spoiler Content!

After the whole book is finished and she becomes the princess. I read the ending and I had two words running in my mine, WAIT, WHAT!!!!!! She doesn't remember being in the book. I didn't expect some cliche ending like how there's somehow another prince with exactly the same face as the prince in the book (but, I was hoping) like they did in the Barbie version of The Nutcracker (Ewww!) but I at least wanted her to remember! UGHHH!

Review

This book is Anthony Horowitz's view of History. It's like one of does books with epic plot twists that you never see coming. It's a good read and some of the stuff in the book are actual facts and it's a quick way to study for a history test on the rein of Queen Elizabeth I. (wink, wink)

Summary

He tries to embrace his talent but he can't read and when he finally does get a job it turns out he's being dragged into something bigger than he ever expected which is..... and it ends with the biggest plot twist that if it ever happened in real history the Queen herself would have been hung.

The ending is that the Queen got preggers and had the baby and sent it away but, the family that should've taken care of the son failed and the son died but, not before the son had a son (pun unintended), and the son is Tom. Which makes the Queen his Grandmother!!!!

Review

This is the 5th book out of 18 books (18? I know, it's a lot.) I haven't read the first 4 yet but I will. This is the first time I've read a Sammy Keyes book and I just finished it 4 hours ago. It's like super-duper funny and when ever she has embarrassing moments, I put the book down and scream and then go back to reading (that happens whenever I read any book, well except for more serious books with no embarrassing parts like The Hunger Games.) Anyway, it's a really good book, if it wasn't I wouldn't be spending my precious cash on the other 17 books from the series.

Summary

Sammy or Samantha thought that New Year's Eve at Dot's place would be low-key with no mysteries to solve but even before they arrive at Dot's something bad has already happened. When they arrive everything seems to be going well until she becomes friends with an old lady and her pig (yes, I did just type P-I-G) Now she's caught up in a century-old family feud, talks of ghosts, lost pigs and falling in love and this all happens in one WEEKEND! Read to find out what happens!

Welcome to the addiction.

Review
This book is basically The 12 Dancing Princesses with a demonic twist. On my part, I didn’t know it was demonic until I started reading it. It’s fast paced with some demonic action, romance, tragic pasts and messed up backstories thrown in the mix. It’s a pretty good read though; I doubt any boy would read it because it has the word princess in the title. This brings me to why I’m even reviewing this book at all. From the books that I’ve reviewed so far it doesn’t seem like I’m the kind of person who reads princess stories but I am. Ever since reading Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine (it’s close enough to the actual name) which was recommended by GOODREADS (curse it) I’ve been reading silly princess-fairytale rewrites ever since, that’s it, just wanted to share.

Summary
It starts off with the queen and the Underground King (Devil) if I’m not mistaken (which I probably am since I kinda skimmed that page instead of reading it properly). She makes a bargain with the Devil and runs off to her beloved family.
We then go to a 19 year old soldier who is on his way back from The War’s, perspective. He is an orphan who searches for the Aunt and Uncle he’s never met and becomes the King’s Golly (I think that’s how its spelt). He accidentally makes one out of the twelve Princesses sick and all the princesses become sick and he feels guilty.
In the chapter after his we go to the eldest princess’s perspective. Now this is where the demonic-ness (is that a real word demonic-ness)of the book really shows. I can’t quite explain it so I’ll let you read through it.
So, it turns out that the Royal Family (well, only the princesses but the only person besides the Princesses in the royal family is The King.) is actually _ U _ _ _ D. The eldest princess and the Gardener kinda have a romantic connection.
The Gardener really wants to uncover the mystery even though everyone else that tried ended up capitol D E AD in freak accidents and eventually, with the help of an old lady he does.

Not to give too many spoilers I sum up the ending with: He has a plan but those it work? Does he get the girl? Read to find out.

"If I could find away to see this straight, I'd run away to some fortune that I should've found by now."
                                                                                                                                  - Cough Syrup, Glee

Groosham Grange

Title: Groosham Grange

Author: Anthony Horowitz (one of my favs)

Rating: 5/5 (witchcraft)

Reading Time: 1-2 hrs

Bookworm appeal: Suspense?
                              : Demonic?
                              : Page turner?
                              : Witchcraft?

Anthony Horowitz is your new favorite writer.

Review

It’s a pretty old book, first published in 1995. But, although it’s old, it is still an awesome book. It’s a page turner, fast paced and each page is filled with horror, witchcraft or something like that, it’s a great book for when you want a quick read. Suitable for any gender but it might not be suitable for adults and grandparents because they might ban you from reading about witchcraft, satanic stuff and seventh son of the seventh son and daughter of the seventh daughter (didn’t know there was something about daughter’s cause movies usually make them about the sons) (thank you Anthony Horowitz for not being sexist) But anyway, its kinda demonic but not much. All in all it’s an awesome book, and you should totally check out this authors other series like Alex Rider or Power of Five serious and both of the series are in my top 5.

Summary
David is a troublemaker, but I don’t blame him with a violent parent and the other almost useless I don’t think it’s his fault he turned out that way. David normally gets into trouble with his parent (which?) but when he gets expelled, it’s the last straw and they send him away to Groosham Grange.
Meeting new friends on the way he realizes that with each day he spends at the school, he discovers weird and weirder (I couldn’t think of a better word) things that happen at the school. After losing a man and a weird dream (is it a dream?) they send out bottles with messages inside. Incidents happen and he escapes but is caught and…. In the end he accepts who he is and his happy with what he becomes. ( I know kind of cliché ending but, what can I do.)
There’s a sequel to the book RETURN TO GROOSHAM GRANGE. I’ve already read it but that was years ago, so I’ll have to read again before giving it a review.

Rating: 5/5 (Why? It touched me and that is very hard to do)

Series: None

Reading Time: 3hrs or more

Bookworm appeal: Emotional?                                                                                  : Suspense?

Review
This book is one of those heart touching, life changing books that makes you think about your life or life in general in a different perspective. When I was reading this book I felt like crying, shouting and smiling at the same time it is a truly wonderfully written book that anyone from the ages of 12-99+ can read. I just love the ending.

Summary
This summary is gonna be a bit of a bore cause I don’t even wanna give slight spoilers. That’s how much I WANT you to READ it. It’s written from two perspectives, the two main characters of the book, Bohemia and Sam (I don’t consider this a spoiler cause the names are right in the description of the book.) So, Sam has to disappear because of almost….. (I’m sorry but I couldn’t help myself I had to give at least one or two slight spoilers.) For Bohemia it’s an escape from her Mother’s array of……. (I said one or two) Throughout the book you’ll get answers to questions you never even thought of asking, lies that you didn’t even think were lies. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read it. It would totally make my day!

SUMMARY FROM THE BACK COVER OF BOOK (sorry if
that’s not the proper name of the back of a book)

For Sam, number 33 Georgiana Street is a place to disappear. For Bohemia, it’s a blip ( I didn’t know what blip was, but I thought it meant something like a retreat and my bro thought it meant something like a dot so, we made a bet on who had the closest meaning, I won. It actually meant an unexpected, minor, and typically temporary deviation from a general trend. Which means doing something different from normal, out of the blue.) between her mum’s boyfriends. Old Isabel acts like she owns the place, although it actually belongs to Steve in the basement. Like ants, they scurry about their business, no questions asked.

But dig deep enough and you’ll find that everyone has something to hide……

Review
The writing in this book is just like most of the books I read, very descriptive. It’s written in past tense and is written from Rosa’s perspective. Rosa is narrating the story. Although it is as I say, very descriptive, I can’t, not won’t but, can’t picture most of the things. I have never been to Edinburgh, I have been to a pretty park (seriously, where I come from the parks and the beaches are full of litter, I’ve never seen a redhead in my life and I’ve never had a boy I don’t know bump into me all the time because of my family’s past, heck I’ve never bumped into a boy repeatedly in my life unless he’s my classmate. Well, that’s going off topic. It’s written beautifully and I like the romance, I admit it so sue me. If you’re like me and like romance and adventure, or maybe just romance or maybe just adventure or mystery this book is for YOU!
Summary
Rosa or Rosaleen is a moody, bad tempered teenage girl who judges everything she does, what she wears, who looks at her, how long they look at her… (how do I know this, because I act the exact same way) (I think this is how she acts because I’ve only gotten 6 pages into the book.)
The story starts off when Rosa is on a walk trying to cool off and she meets this guy who doesn’t even give her a second glance. She walks home and finds a pack of tarot cards that belong to her mother who is, in her eyes an-anti mumbo jumbo, black magic kinda stuff. She’s intrigued. After over reactions and self- banning, she and Andy (Andy Who?) gang up and try to solve the mystery she’s uncovered, by accident. It leads her into dark whirlpool with her life only going DOWNWARDS, what is she to do. How does it end, you’ll have to read through the epic DRAMA, the amazing ROMANCE and read the ends of the magnificent PLOT TWISTS.

The Hunger Games

(I already wrote one review on my old blog but I'm starting anew with this one.)

Title: The Hunger Games

Author: Suzanne Collins

Rating: 5/5

Series: The Hunger Games Trilogy

Bookworms appeal: Fiction?
                               : Teenager?
                               : Slight violence?
                               : Sci-fi?
                               : Hunger?

Your reading my favorite book.

(This one is especially long, if you want you can skip everything and just read the conclusion at the bottom)

Review
I love this book. I love that its written in present tense and again it is very descriptive like Imperfect. I was completely absorbed in the book that I finished it in an hour and I didn't put it down at all during the entire time I was reading it.

Nowadays, in the YA books I've been reading it seems as though they all have the same plot like seriously, I know I've touched this matter in my review of Imperfect but I feel as though I need to touch on it again. Observe.

PLOT
(Huge problem + Rebelling Teen + Evil Government + Uprising + Survivors = YA books plot)

I can't say much about The Hunger Games because it was published first but Divergent and The Maze Runner Series have almost the they came out a year or so after The Hunger Games. That's all.

Summary
The Hunger Games is kind of like when your at a pizza party with 23 other kids who all want the same slice, just with a different scenario ( replace the last slice of pizza with the one and only surviving tribute, replace the race towards the pizza with battles to the death and the victory of eating the last pizza with peace and fame and fortune. There you have it The Hunger Games

Its based on the life of Katniss Everdeen who volunteers to save SOMEONE from the reaping and gets sent into the Hunger Games with another male tribute where she has to battle it out with her bow and arrow ( see how I slipped that in there) to save the people she loves ( hint...hint). What happens? Who dies? Figure it out when you read the Hunger Games.

BACKSTORY

I absolutely, without a doubt am in love with The Hunger Games. How do I know? It's when the book is always on your mind, it's when, when someone says a word that seems to have no connection with the book you somehow end up with a thought/picture of that book in your mind, it's when your on facebook and the first thing you check if there are any good pics of your book's characters in any of the book groups you've joined that is how you know your in LOVE. It was love at first sight with me and The Hunger Games, literally. When I came across The Hunger Games it was by chance at a CD shop, Catching Fire had already come out on CD and I hadn't even watched The Hunger Games yet. After watching both movies, I found out it was actually from a book series. I bought the trilogy on the same day and since then it's been my dream to watch the PREMIERE OF THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 2 in the USA but since I'm so far away it would cost me thousands of dollars, so alas it is a dream that cannot be.

CONCLUSION

READ THE BOOK AND STAY ALIVE ( well at least stay alive long enough to read it and to blog about it too.)
